But compression can aide load times... here's how: raw files have to be streamed from the disk and can take a while to cache into the system ram, while compressed files can be transfered quick (less data to transfer) and with the cell/triple core processors of the new systems, can be quickly unstuffed and loaded. Overall, with slow readspeeds (especially those of bluray) this means that compression will shorten load times. this is why developers compress... to bypass read speeds of the opt...

I'm not forgetting that the HD-DVD is not needed, read my last paragraph, i said if you don't want the HDDVD then just subtract 200 from the total 360 cost.
I'm sorry, this isn't a knock on ps3, its a knock on EA... they put out so many titles (all multiplatform) that they are guarenteed to make a profit... then they buy up licensing so that they are the only one on the market (nfl and LOTR anyone?) and this results in horrible games (madden 06 on 360 and nfl head coach) NFS carbon plays horribly and besides a few gems they are worthless...
Sorry, nothing to do with ps3 because all those games are on every system... i simply detest EA...
you are correct saying that the ps3 is cheaper for someone who goes ALL out.. but for someone who goes all out, the price is probably not the most important factor.. games are, so it depends on if the gamer wants fps or jrpg... cause really, 360 is better for fps while the ps3 will most likely have more jrpgs, so at that point its their choice.

definitely real... although using the xbox 360 "core" unit adds at least another 50 dollars..

my ipod battery only lasts for 45 minutes now... so if the ps3 controller does that... i'll be unhappy
the controller itself may be fine, but the battery will be dead. you are left with a wired controller basically because the battery won't hold anymore charge. So to make it wireless again you will have to buy a new one.
